Guest Speaker:Brice Winney, Stack HIP
Brice began his career with Sony Disc Manufacturing where he gained unparalleled experience in the high tech manufacturing and quality space. Brice has held leadership roles in Operations, Quality, and Customer Service. Brice is currently the General Manager at Stack HIP. Brice is an Oregon native, currently residing in Philomath, OR.
Stack Metallurgical Group (SMG)
In October of 1982, Stack Heat Treating was purchased by David Ederer who also owned Commercial Heat Treating in Seattle. He merged the two companies in 1985 to form Commercial Stack Heat Treaters. In 1991 Puget Sound Heat Treating, which operated in Tacoma, was purchased and merged into the Seattle operations. Dave Ederer also purchased Stack Heat Treaters in Portland and reopened the plant January 9, 1984. In 1995, the companies? names were changed to Washington Metallurgical Services for the Seattle company and Stack Metallurgical Services for the Portland company. In 1997 the Portland company tripled in size, moving to their current 72,000 SQ facility. In December of 1995, Inland Northwest Metallurgical, which is located in Spokane, Washington, was built and opened. In 2000, the Seattle operation, Washington Metallurgical, was merged with another Seattle heat treater; they are now known as Cascade Metallurgical and are no longer owned by the Ederer family. In 2001 Dave purchased partnership in Thermal Processing, located in Salt Lake City, Utah; this plant does plating and painting, primarily for the aerospace industry. In 2014 Dave and his family partners became sole owners of this facility, it was relocated and all new equipment was put in. This company is now known as Aerospace Aluminum Processing.
Stack started out with a couple of atmosphere furnaces and companion draws. Since then, we have grown into the most versatile provider of heat treating services in the Pacific Northwest.
