"Cybersecurity: Tips on Target Hardening Your Organization from Information Security Attacks"
Detective John Trenary is a CyberCrimes Detective/Digital Evidence Forensic Examiner with the Linn County Sheriff’s Office. In this capacity, Detective Trenary has conducted examinations and analysis of several thousand digital evidence items in support of investigations ranging from motor vehicle collisions to homicide.
Detective Trenary has a Masters in Digital Forensics Graduate Certificate, a Masters of Business Administration, and is currently pursing a Masters in Cyber Security with an emphasis in Digital Forensics and Incident Response.
Detective Trenary has received specialized training in digital forensics and cybercrime investigations from organizations including The Department of Homeland Security at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center, The United States Secret Service at the National Computer Forensics Institute, The International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists, The University of Rhode Island, The National White Collar Crimes Center, and The Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce.
Detective Trenary is a member of the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists, and maintains specialized certifications including Certified Forensic Computer Examiner (CFCE), and AccessData Certified Examiner (ACE). As a member of the digital forensics specialists community, Detective Trenary actively participates as a CFCE coach for candidates seeking the certification.
Detective Trenary manages the Linn County Sheriff’s Office Digital Forensics Laboratory; an access restricted, secure laboratory with full digital forensics, cybercrime investigations, and digital evidence secure storage capabilities.
John is married and father of four kids, the oldest of which is in college in Tokyo, Japan. He is a FFA certified small unmanned aircraft system remote pilot and helps his wife restore/refurbish furniture.
