DESCRIPTION:"Recreation Opportunities in the Great Outdoors " \n\nGuest speaker: Brian Carroll\, Linn County Parks and Recreation\n\nBrian Carroll was born and raised in New York City and in 1986 graduated from the University of Idaho\, College of Forestry\, Wildlife & Range Sciences with a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Wildland Recreation Management. Brian has worked in the parks & recreation profession for the past 33 years and has been Director of the Linn County Parks & Recreation Department since 1997. He is a former Chair and board member of the Oregon State Marine Board (2009-2017)\, past President of the Oregon Parks Association\, and one of the founding members of the Linn County Cultural Coalition. In 2013\, the Linn County Parks & Recreation Department received the National Partnership of the Year Award from the US Army Corps of Engineers for excellence in partnering.\n\n \n\nBrian and his wife Linda\, Dean of the LBCC Healthcare Division\, have lived in Albany for the past 21 years where they raised their three wonderful daughters. All three daughters are proud graduates of West Albany High School\, and two are graduates of Oregon State University and one of Colorado State University. Brian is currently a member of the Samaritan Albany General Hospital Board of Directors and a past member of the St. Mary's Pastoral Council. In his off time Brian enjoys spending time with family and friends\, traveling\, camping \, mountain biking and going to Crossfit.
