About Kevin
Kevin Kreitman has over 37 years of experience in the fire service. His career began as a firefighter in Albany, Oregon, where he also served as a firefighter/paramedic. He became a Battalion Chief in 1989, an Assistant Chief in 1991, and Fire Chief in 1999. In September 2008, he accepted the position of Fire Chief with the City of Redding California, a role he held until his retirement in July 2015. Kevin was asked to assist with the City of Millersburg with a review of their fire service capabilities and was subsequently asked to serve as Millersburg’s City Manager in November of 2017. Given Kevin’s fire service background he has a strong recognition and understanding of the businesses and industries located in Millersburg. In addition to his service in fire departments, Kevin was an adjunct instructor at the National Fire Academy, where he taught Training Program Management. He is also an alumnus of the Academy's Executive Fire Officer Program. Kevin continues to be an active member of two National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) committees focused on combustible metals and hazardous chemicals. He also chairs the Combustible Dust Technical Correlating Committee, which oversees all of NFPA standards on dust hazards.
Kevin has written numerous papers and articles on dust and combustible metal hazards. He is a respected speaker at national conferences and has assisted NFPA and the National Institutes for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) in investigations and publications related to combustible metal hazards, showcasing his deep commitment to safety and hazard management.
The last six years with the city have been very busy accomplishing the following:
Hired an Assistant City Manager/City Engineer.
Withdrew from both the Albany Rural and Jefferson Fire Districts and began contracting directly with the City of Albany for Emergency Services, resulting in savings of up to $2.15 per thousand, associated with the rural district tax rates, which were assessed in addition to a city’s tax authorized tax rate of $3.50 per thousand.
Upgraded the City’s website, internet services and phone capabilities.
Upgraded Council Chambers and provided the ability to watch and participate in City meetings virtually.
Completed updates of the Development Code, Strategic Plan, and Municipal Code.
Completed Parks and Stormwater Master Plans.
Built a new state-of-the art 6.5 million dollar fire station and entrance road to the City Industrial Park without the need for a bond or levy.
