About Michelle
Michelle Duncan was appointed as the 41st Sheriff of Linn County in 2022 and won the office in the election later that year.
Michelle has served Linn County in a variety of positions.She has held positions as a Resident Deputy, Narcotics Detective, Patrol Sergeant, Patrol Lieutenant, Patrol Captain and Undersheriff before serving as Sheriff.Additionally, she has served as the agency’s Public Information Officer for over seven years, revamping their social media content and acting as the primary contact for the news media.
Michelle has a wide range of experience.She has served as an instructor for the agency and has led both the Defensive Tactics Team and Field Training and Evaluation Programs for training new deputies.She has served as the Incident Commander on major events such as the Willamette Country Music Festival and 2020 Fires.Additionally, Michelle has investigated all levels of crimes, successfully written grants for the agency, developed policy and procedures, and now manages a 45-million-dollar budget and a staff of 193.
Michelle has an Associate Degree and holds her Management Certification from Department of Public Safety & Standards.She has completed Oregon State Sheriff’s Association Command College.
Since Michelle took Office, the jail has been reopened to capacity, positive programs for inmates in the jail have been implemented and Employee Wellness has been prioritized.
Michelle is married and has two children in college.She enjoys camping, hiking, gardening, cooking and sports.
