Our Mortgage Loan Originator will act as the primary contact and front-line marketer of the first mortgage program to outside agents and members. They will originate residential loans in accordance with Credit Union policy, secondary market and insuring agency requirements to meet goals for the real estate department.  Must be able to develop and maintain realtor relationships within general market area to increase Credit Union market share. Base pay plus commission.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Register and maintain a unique identifier through the Registry (NMLS).
  • Act as Mortgage Loan Originator for Central Willamette performing in accordance with their expectations.
  • Meet with members on the phone and in person, advising and guiding them throughout the entire loan process.
  • Assist members with completion of mortgage loan application and present applicable disclosures in accordance with policy and regulation.
  • Review financial information from all relevant parties.
  • Originate and evaluate mortgage loans according to company guidelines and requirements of third-party vendor.
  • Prepare loans for submission to processing/underwriting and notify member of loan activity and loan decision.
  • Maintain awareness of all products and services offered by Central Willamette and third-party vendors and effectively market them to members.
  • Meet established sales and referral goals of Central Willamette.
  • Stay alert to current market conditions, products, and changes in the marketplace.
  • Recommend new products that might improve market share and report market trends and conditions to Director.
  • Thorough knowledge of financial institution products and services, policies and procedures, remote delivery channels and member service functions.
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all state and federal regulations, lending standards, and rate/fee schedules appropriate for all loan types.
  • Cross-sell all Credit Union products and services in conjunction with accepting mortgage loan applications.
  • Actively generate loan leads, solicits new business and develop and maintain lead sources, cultivating a referral network, such as realtors, attorneys, estate planners, insurance agents and tax accountants.
  • Partner with and support branch mortgage loan activity; acts as a residential loan resource for branch staff, visits branches on a regular basis to provide training and assist with branch mortgage loan sales efforts.
  • Responsible for achieving and tracking mortgage loan and client acquisition goals. Prepare periodic sales activity and performance reports detailing results for management review.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to present a professional image to management, staff, and outside contacts.
  • Strong organizational, time management, problem-solving, customer service, communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficient verbal and written skills to effectively communicate in the English language.
  • Typing and 10-key skills with emphasis on accuracy.
  • Excellent planning skills, both short- and long-term planning, financial acumen and analytical skills.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent business experience
  • A minimum of one year mortgage lending experience preferred.
  • A basic understanding of processing real estate mortgage products.
  • Excellent marketing and sales skills.

 PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Full-time hours required, with additional hours as necessary to accomplish objectives, goals and projects.
  • Ability to sit or stand within proximity of a computer terminal for extended periods.
  • Vision (or corrected) to the normal range.
